Portuguese Society of Obstetrics and Maternal Foetal Medicine
The Portuguese Society of Obstetrics and Maternal Foetal Medicine (PSOMFM) was founded in 2007 following the dissolution of the Portuguese Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (with the creation of the Federation of Portuguese of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Societies), responding to the need for the area of obstetrics to have its own specific society.

Professor Luís Graça is the first elected president, and is currently serving his second term after the elections of November 2010.

The board of directors of the PSOMFM is comprised of the president, Professor Luís Graça, the vice president, Professor Paulo Moura, the general secretary, Doctor Nuno Clode, the treasurer, Doctor Marina Moucho, and board member, Doctor Fatima Serrano.

Integrated within FPOGS since its foundation by holding one of the vice presidencies of its board of directors, the PSOMFM has had intense scientific and professional activity:
- Two annual general meetings (April and November), running between Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra;
- SICLO meetings every four months which bring together in Lisbon all obstetrics and gynaecology services of the southern region for over 2 hours to present and discuss cases / clinical situations;
- Direct participation in the structuring and presentation of the field of obstetrics at EMIGO meetings (annual meeting of the junior doctors of obstetrics / gynaecology);
- Organisation or sponsorship of postgraduate courses in the field of Maternal Foetal Medicine;
- Direct involvement in the organization of the two FPOGS conferences already undertaken.
- Participation by its president at the annual meetings of the neonatology section of the Portuguese Society of Paediatrics.
